Your Path to Success Begins Here
Starting in 2026, the format of the UCAS personal statement is changing. Students will now need to address three specific questions instead of writing a single, free-flowing essay. This shift is designed to level the playing field for applicants and improve the quality of applications. With this change, having expert guidance has never been more important.
Personal Statement Changes for 2026
The new personal statement will still have a 4,000-character limit (including spaces) but will be divided into three clear sections:
Motivation – "Why do you want to study this course or subject?"
Preparation – "How have your qualifications and studies prepared you for this course?"
Extra-curriculars – "What else have you done to prepare outside of education, and why are these experiences helpful?"
